In the 1970’s the Ministry of Natural Resources established the McConnell Lake Campgrounds in order to centralize camping in the township of Wyse, McAuslan, La Salle and south half of Parkman, for a total of 350 square miles & 32 lakes of recreation area. Under the authority of the Public Lands Act, people wishing to overnight camp in this area, referred to as the McConnell Lakes Recreation Area, must camp at the designated camp grounds. There are three campgrounds, one at Little McDougal Lake, one at Blue Lake and one at Boland Lake. They contain a total of 168 individual campsites to service outdoor enthusiasts.
