In the 1970’s the Ministry of Natural Resources established the McConnell Lake Campgrounds in order to centralize camping in the township of Wyse, McAuslan, La Salle and south half of Parkman, for a total of 350 square miles & 32 lakes of recreation area. Under the authority of the Public Lands Act, people wishing to overnight camp in this area, referred to as the McConnell Lakes Recreation Area, must camp at the designated camp grounds. There are three campgrounds, one at Little McDougal Lake, one at Blue Lake and one at Boland Lake. They contain a total of 168 individual campsites to service outdoor enthusiasts.

With several lakes and beaches and teeming with wildlife, the Ministry of Natural Resources has been successful in protecting this resource for all to enjoy.

The campgrounds are managed by a partnership agreement between the Ministry of Natural Resources and a private operator/manager.

The McConnell Lake campgrounds and the wilderness area it serves is a remarkably beautiful piece of Ontario’s precious natural resource.

If you know the area, you love it. If you have never been out there, you must go out and explore, see what you’re missing and maybe, fall in love too.
